How Can You Keep God at the Center of Your Pregnancy & Birth?
There was a moment in my third pregnancy when I found myself trying to “spiritually prepare” by mentally making a checklist: read this devotional, memorize this verse, finish this journal...
I ordered a new book that I’d heard about and sat down in my cozy chair to “connect with God” & then my kids started fighting in the other room and I forgot what I was even trying to do. My intentional time lasted maybe 5 minutes and I was mad at myself for not waking up earlier to do it before the kids woke up.
It wasn’t that I didn’t want God close—I just didn’t know how to feel spiritually anchored in the middle of everything else. I honestly still don’t, but here’s what I’m doing to get better every day..
Don’t Add More - Instead Integrate
Keeping God at the center of your pregnancy doesn’t mean piling on spiritual tasks. It means letting Him breathe into what’s already happening.
Here are a few ways that made a real difference for me—and can for you, too.
1. Turn Breath Into Prayer
You don’t have to set aside an hour to connect with God. You can do it in one breath.
Inhale: “God is with me.”
Exhale: “I am not alone.”
Boom - you’re done. Repeat it a few times and feel his presence as you’re driving to the next sports practice.

2. Anchor Scripture Where You Already Are
I started writing short verses on sticky notes—just one line at a time—and putting them on the bathroom mirror, on the refrigerator, on my phone wallpaper, on my keyboard…wherever I would see it on a daily basis.
Not to “memorize.”
To let it soak in. To get a quick bit of God’s truth right where I am.
Even one verse, seen again and again, can become a deep root system. One of my favorites right now is:
Psalm 16:11 You reveal the path of life to me; in your presence is abundant joy; at your right hand are eternal pleasures.
It’s a constant reminder that He is guiding me and the work I am doing matters and is meant to fill me with abundant joy!

3. Pray Aloud During Everyday Tasks
Some of my most honest conversations with God happen while doing dishes, folding laundry (just kidding - my husband does the laundry - haha), driving to an appointment, or rocking my sweet baby to sleep.
These little moments—often filled with noise or motion—became sacred spaces when I start praying out loud:
“Lord, please keep my boys safe and help them to always be kind to everyone. ”
“Heavenly Father, I need you right now. Please take the anxiety away and replace it with your peace.”
“Lord, I trust You, even when I don’t feel equipped for this.”
These prayers aren’t formal. They are just a quick way to allow God to move in my life and the lives of my family. Prayer doesn’t need a quiet room—it needs a willing heart.

Connecting with God isn’t about doing more. It’s about allowing him into your life, just as it is! You don’t need to “earn” God’s presence in this season.
He’s already here.
In your breath.
In your belly.
In your kitchen floor chaos.
Invite Him in. That’s enough.
That’s everything.
