Not sure if this is right for you??
“This feels like a big investment. What if I can’t afford it?”
It is an investment. But before deciding it’s too much, ask yourself: what would it mean to go through those hard moments without the support you wish you had?
When labor doesn’t look like you expected. When you’re wondering, “Is this normal?” When you’re exhausted and don’t know what to try next. When your husband isn’t sure how to help. When your provider presents an unexpected option and you need a moment to think.
You’re investing in having someone you trust in your corner for the moments when you need support most.
“I already have a doctor/midwife/provider I trust.”
You should! Your provider plays an important role in your medical care. But their role is different from mine. They aren’t with you continuously throughout labor. They may only have a limited amount of time to get to know you, your values, your priorities, and the kind of experience you want. And their job comes with medical responsibilities and priorities that are different from mine.
My job is to know YOU. To understand what matters to you, what you’re hoping for, what you’re comfortable with, and what support you want when things don’t go according to plan.
Your provider cares for your medical needs. I’m there to make sure you feel seen and supported so you can look back at this experience with peace about how you walked through it.
Can’t I just Google my questions?
You can. But you probably already know how that can go. You start with one question and suddenly you’re reading worst-case scenarios, conflicting opinions, and stories that have you questioning more than you were before. Instead of feeling informed, you’re spiraling, scared, and somehow have even more questions than you started with.
Google can give you information. But, I can help you make sense of the information in a grounded way. I know you, your values, your goals, and your pregnancy. So instead of sending you down another rabbit hole, I can help you sort through what you’re seeing, what actually matters, and what your next step might be.
If I took a birth class, why do I need a doula?
The class gives you the knowledge and tools. But knowing what to do and having someone help you apply it when you’re actually in labor are two different things. Doula support gives you personalized guidance, perspective, and reassurance as things unfold—not more information just for the sake of having more information.
What if I want an intimate birth space with just me and my husband?
Then that’s exactly what I want for you, too. I’m not there to take over your birth or become another person you have to focus on. I’m there to support you both, step in when you need me, and step back when you don’t. You and your husband will experience these sweet + intense moments together, with the reassurance that I’m there when you need another set of eyes, hands, or perspective.
